THOR to Participate in Omaha Gives May 24

This Wednesday, May 24th is the day to give to THOR to make sure area trails are the best they can be.

Did you know that:
– THOR maintains over 65 miles of natural surface, multi-use trails at 14 parks.
– It takes nearly $10,000 per year to maintain trails for trekking, running, biking and other recreational activities.
– The DEVO youth mountain biking development program and D!RT junior trail advocacy programs are part of THOR.
– THOR volunteers work, on average, 3-4 days per week on the trails.

Why do we do this?
We are all kids at heart and trails are a great place for safe, healthy, and fun recreation.

$2500 Dollar for Dollar Challenge
THOR’s 2017 Omaha Gives! Goal: $6,000. Thanks to THOR members Jay and Kathy Puckett who committed $2,000 and David Goldberg and Tom Vann who pledged another $500, the rest of us have been challenged to donate another $2,500 in dollar-for-dollar match. How does this work? Every dollar you contribute to THOR will be matched with a dollar from the challenge up to $2,500. So, if you contribute just $100 to THOR, Jay, Kathy, David and Tom will donate another $100 from the challenge! Once we meet the challenge, it only takes a little more to get to the full goal, $6,000

What does THOR need funds for this year? In addition to our regular annual operating costs, we need to:
– Replace two trail mowers. New mowers will allow THOR trail leaders and volunteers to keep weeds, grass, and nettles off the trails
– Supply volunteers with other tools like shovels, rakes, rogue hoes, etc. for more effective trail maintenance and trail days.
– Update our kiosks and signposts for trail information and safety.

So, on Wednesday, plan to make your tax deductible donation through Omaha Gives!, meet the challenge and help keep THOR working on your trails in 2017.

Thank you for supporting THOR and Omaha Gives!
