This trail system was built for mountain bikers and equestrians and it’s the perfect place to introduce you to mountain biking or trail running. It’s a fast, flowing course of mostly single track with only a few technical sections with roots, g-outs and double bowls. It loops tightly within a relatively small area, so you’re never far from the start. About half-way through you will pop out onto a paved street that serves the Bellevue Fire Dept. training center. The trail continues on the other side of the street and then winds down behind the training center and then eventually back towards the trail head. Please honor any private property or no trespassing signs.
Loop is approximately 4 miles. Level is easy to moderate.
Swanson Park has a nice playground for the kiddies and lots of open field for them or your dog to run. There is a porta-potty on location during the warmer seasons and a large shaded shelter with tables which makes for a nice place to sit and enjoy the outdoors. Park in the designated parking lot. There is no running water.
From Omaha, take Hwy 75 south from I-80 to the Cornhusker Rd. exit. Go west on Cornhusker to approximately 34th St. Look for a brick sign on the north side with scrolling red letters for the Fire Department Training Center. Turn north and the parking lot is about 50 yards down the road on the left. Note: Don’t drive through the open fence. It leads to the Fire Deptartment Training Center.
Is on north side of park entrance prior to the parking lot – letter ‘A’ on GPS map below. Please do not use the old singletrack entrance through the grass north of the pavilion and volleyball court.
